What weichseltree.com and the grove keep about you, for how long, and who sees it. Last changed 12 September 2026.
The short version
No accounts, no analytics, no advertising. If you walk into the grove, other people in the same room see the name you pick, where you stand and what you say. We keep as little as makes that work, and delete it on a schedule.

Nobody outside a room can read who is in it or what is said there. The host is whoever runs this orchard; they can see everything in the table above.
Your identity, without an account
When you enter the grove, your browser asks our token service (at /auth on this site) for a token. The service may first run Cloudflare's human check, Turnstile, which usually shows nothing. The token names a random identity for you. Your browser keeps it for 30 days and renews it, so you are the same visitor next time. Clearing this site's data in your browser makes you a new visitor.
The token service sees your IP address, as every website does. It does not store it. It turns your network (your IPv4 address, or the first half of an IPv6 address) into a scrambled code using a secret key that only the service holds. That code goes into the token. It lets the world notice that eight visitors came from one network, or keep a banned network out, without ever learning the address.
What your browser stores
We set no cookies. The grove keeps three entries in your browser's local storage: orchard.grove.pass (the token), orchard.grove.name (the name you picked) and, from older visits, orchard.grove.token. Cloudflare may set cookies of its own that the human check needs.
Who else handles data
- Cloudflare serves this site, the media and the token service, and runs the human check. Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Clockwork Labs hosts the world's database (SpacetimeDB). Names, rooms, positions, chat, reports and bans live there. Their privacy policy.
Your rights
You can ask what is kept about you, and ask for it to be deleted, at any time. Because there are no accounts, tell us the name you used and roughly when you visited, or open the grove and ask the host. The quickest way to reach us is an issue at github.com/weichseltree/orchard. If you are in the EU you may also complain to your data protection authority; in Austria that is the Datenschutzbehörde.
